[Track & Field] Tigers have strong three days in track and field championship

Comments

A victory in pole vault and all-conference performances in the women's 1,500 meter run, men's 4x400 meter relay and the men's 5,000-meter walk race highlighted Georgetown College men's and women's track and field Mid-South Conference Championship meet this past weekend.

"It was a wild three days," said GC coach Lucas Garnett. "The weather has not been our friend all season, but we have taken the rain and snow in stride and found a way to make it work. We had a great banquet with honors in academics as well as Haley Oliver receiving the MSC Champions of Character award on the women's side. Celebrating the athletes who get it done inside the classroom is just as important as celebrating those that win on the track and in the field."

While for the team it marks the end of the regular season, there will be several competitors who continue to go to meets over the next few weeks looking to hit the NAIA A or B standard to qualify for the NAIA National Championship Meet.
