[Men's Outdoor Track & Field] Bianchi sets record, hits national standard in high jump

Comments

Tigers have great weekend of competition

Emma Bianchi improved five inches from her first collegiate high jumping competition to her second this past Thursday at Lindsey Wilson College. The freshman cleared 5-feet 5-inches (1.65 meters) to take the victory, set a school record and qualify for nationals. She is the first Tiger to do so.

GC has battled through the crazy weather of canceled meets and shifted schedules. The throwers traveled to LWC separate from the runners. The runners went to Kentucky Wesleyan College for a one day meet, but KWC does not have all of the throwing events at its new complex.

Coach Lucas Garnett found a way for everyone to compete.

"It's tough when you can't go all together to be there to support as well as stack points," Garnett said. "However, it was very important with all the weather thus far that we all get to compete. I could not be more excited for how everyone did. We had Emma win and hit the nationals standard. We had Sydney (Jones) and Austin (Hamlett) pick up victories as well."
