[Women's Cross Country] Tiger harriers battle stiff competition in second meet

Comments

Georgetown College women's and men's cross country teams finally got to tackle the course in Berea Saturday morning. The Tigers first meet of the season was to be in the town just more than an hour south of campus, however, Hurricane Harvey's remnants canceled the race.

The women ran first and tore through it for a fourth place finish – second best NAIA team there as well as beat out Mid-South Conference foes Campbellsville University and University of Pikeville. The men followed and finished sixth, edging Pikeville behind another freshmen laden performance.

"I'm pleased with the way my guys are stepping up and maturing," said GC coach Lucas Garnett. "This was the first five-mile race of the freshmen's careers. Their inexperience showed today, but I am happy with their effort."
